Observer mode?

i was thinking, wouldnt it be cool to be able to watch matches between players? this would also be cool if some leagues/clans did start up, giving teammates a chance to cheer each other on.

it good idea then you can see tricks that you might wanna copy and to learn some ways of playing from watching or to watch

The negative effect of this would be, even more server overload, something I really wouldn't want right now, 'specially since i can't afford a gold membership. (sad, huh?)

its a good idea but chatting privilages would have to be taken away from the observer.and he shouldnt be allowed to see what they type

I don't see why the observer would have to lose the ability to see what the players say, but they definitely should not be able to chat to the players.

Yeah, observer mode is a real necessity.
Particularly once this gets more competitive and we start to have tournaments or ladders and such.
Should only be available to members though... to help keep the crowding off the servers.

It'd be awful if everyone got to watch everything and the whole system was flooded .... it lags sometimes as it is

Speaking of servers.. maybe when TAO gets the two more servers from gold memberships.. one of them can be member only, and maybe gold memberships can be global (to each server)?

The lag nowadays is usually when everybody's sitting around in the lobby.

My problem with observer mode is that it wouldnt open up any more slots on the server... there could still only be 250 connections and therefore a lot fewer people would be playing at once. As much as i'd love to observe, i'd love more to playyyyyy :)

And as far as a gold only server, that would be awesome IF there were enough gold's... also, that way, there might be some way that ALL gold account members could meet and fight because we Great Laker's cant fight Banff'ers with our gold accounts.
