I'm still new at this, but it was the first time I had a game go down to the wire. Every other game so far I had a comfortable win, or was completely smoked.
I'm packed into the left corner in a moderately tight turtle formation, and he (hell i forgot his name already! bad memory :( ) was spread in a scrimage line along the front row across the whole board.
I thought to myself, this will be easy! One of his two DWs is withing range of my LW, and i blasted it on the first round (i went first). He invaded with an assassin through a hole in my wall (the only hole, alas right where the Assassin was) and the carnage began. Though the initial invasion was repulsed, that one followed by a knight invasion, a strike from his other DW, and another invasion into the underbelly from his OTHER assassin, and some sniping from the scout, and a serious toll had been paid among my spellcasters. Fortunately i was largely able to chop the head of of each invader before they could escape with the bloody scalps of my Pyros and DW.
When the smoke cleared, I had three knights (two at about half life) a scout with 1 life point left, an assassin with 4 points, and a now useless LW. Yes, my cleric was among the dearly departed.
He had left two knights (one full, one nearly full) , a full health scout, and his cleric.
Well I regrouped my forces, and sent my limping scout through wide open spaces on a mission to bring down the enemy cleric. His other pieces were far forward, and could not fall back fast enough to save the cleric, but there was no way my scout would get away either.
Then there followed an inprobable series of blocks (two sides and two front) by my scout, which, by scooting against the wall, was able to stick around long enough to kill a knight before expiring.
Meanwhile, my assassin charged the enemy scout and blocked a front shot on the way in, and scored a rear hit before dieing in the same manner.
The scout finished off one of my damaged knights, but was unable to escape before another of my knights was able to chop his boodly sniping head off.
so now its two knights for me against his one knight. Easy win? wrong. I made a tactical error that kept me from getting in any rear attacks, and what followed was ANOTHER inprobable series of blocks to the side, wherein his knight was able to even the score!
So now its K vs K, and both of us are taking the side shots, no waiting for the rear shot. Both Ks are within a hit of death.....and mine goes through first!
wow my best game ever so far! :D :D :D
And I won a chanty :P
