Tonight, after talking a bit, Al and I realized how many online poker games there were. So, we decided to go through the first lucky 6 we found and give you, potential players, our reviews. The ones we reviewed are: Pacific Poker, Party Poker, Paradise Poker, True Poker, Poker Room, and Poker Stars. So first I will post my review, and then Al will post his, just to give you guys an idea of what poker programs are the best.

Pacific Poker- Pro.- Good overall gameplay, easy to navigate, good chat features
tournys very frequently. Good graphix.
*Con.- No buddy list to find people easily, geared towards better players.
(Therefore doesn't bother me a bit ^_^)

Paradise Poker- Pro.- Cool clicky sound when dealing :)
*Con.- Cheap spin-off of Pac., Bad graphics, and bullcrap registration proccess.
-Not Recommended

Poker Room- Pro.- Cool characters drawn well, nice graphics on most stuff.
Create your own rooms so you can play with friends only if you like. No download necessary.
*Con.- Bad gameplay, bets set at basically one standard. (15/30 I think)
-Somewhat Recommended

Party Poker- Pro.- Buddylist definitely good, well drawn characters, nice stakes diversity.
*Con.- Not so easy navigation of lobby, gameplay just average, less frequent tournaments.
-Somewhat Recommended

Poker Stars- Pro.- Create own character.
*Con.- Cruddy gameplay, once again bullcrap registration.
-Not Recommended
www.pokerstars.com

True Poker- Pro.- Great graphics! Good features like hand logs. Choose your own character.
*Con.- Gameplay just a little bit sloppy. Might be hard to play and coordinate with friends.

Important Note: We are not referring to gambling with real money. This review is purely based on the Just for Fun aspect of each poker application.

-------------------------------------

Party Poker www.partypoker.com
-Rating: 8
-Review: Party Poker is a great place to socialize, and has wonderful user-friendly interfaces. It also has many options that you can use even when you use the Play Money option when participating. The graphics are alright, and you cannot choose your character at the table, but the characters will tailor to your sex and are so-so 3D animation. Great chat feature. Easy readout and betting options, Party Poker is great for pure fun.
-Recommended.

Pacific Poker www.pacificpoker.com
-Rating: 7.5
-Review: Pacific Poker's best quality is the clean user-interface. Easy to navigate, Pac Poker is tailored to the efficient poker player, not dabbling in fancy avatars and flashy animation. The animation is good though, being very crisp. Pacific Poker is a little less friendly to the Play Money player, but makes up for that aspect with tournaments around the clock. Money handling is quick and clumsy at best, and the chat feature is terrible.
-Recommended.

Poker Stars www.pokerstars.com
-Rating: 4
-Review: Poker Stars is for the richy-rich gambler, having a confusing and harsh user interface, plastered with pictures of pompous "famous" players. You can make your own avatar, but it is very small and limited. The money handling is annoying, and graphics are just okay. Tailor made for snobbish player lacquered with money.
-Not recommended.

Paradise Poker www.paradisepoker.com
-Rating: 5
-Review: Paradise Poker is pretty at best. With a lengthy registration process, you would expect something worth waiting for, but Paradise is a flashy peice of novelty.
-Not reccomended.

Poker Room www.pokerroom.com
-Rating: 6
-Review: You do not have to download Poker Room, just start up the applet from the website. With a very modern feel, the interface is alright, lacking easy navigation. The in-game is very realistic, with relatively easy betting options that are linked to your keyboard. The money handling is non-existant with Play Money, and depending on what seat you sit at, you may resemble a busty hooker or a hippie. Poker Room is alright, but tries a little too hard to be "cool."
-Recommended.

True Poker www.truepoker.com
-Rating: 7
-Review: True Poker has a few major advantages. You get to choose your own avatar at the begginning, you can leave notes about fellow players, the money handling system is as good as it gets, and the graphics are very realistic. The few disadvantages are that the download is sizeable, the in-game layout is sloppy, and the interface is so-so.

Yea, perhaps you guys should keep the actual links to gambling sites to yourselves or through pm's.

I need to draw the line here on this.

Umm. . . Alright I guess, but it isn't the gambling aspect we are speaking about. It's the Play Money Games. . .

It's Play Money. No real money actually involved. It's like the Casino Software you buy from Walmart.

This whole thread is ridiculous and dumb. Sadly, I could care less about this thread. What has gotten my attention is that my worthy co-leader of Vival's Posse is associating with Al. Daniel, there's a good croud and a bad one. I'm from Armageddon, he isn't. You know just by that whose better.

Wow.

I'm just going to ignore that reply. This thread was for providing information to fellow TAO-goers.

I'm sorry that you have such feelings towards me.

Ah well. Don't know what I did to you, so I guess I should just let you rant away.

But please, let's do this through PM.

I just want this thread to be dedicated to Poker.

Have a good day.

I found all the play for fun pretty boring...people play too aggressively, even at the high dollar amounts, since there isn't any real risk.

Party pooper.

:(

We put quite a bit of work into this. At least include a smidgen of praise, and then state your opinion.

I still spent half my weekend in online poker. So it can't be that bad :) at least it passes time.

If you enter the tournaments and such like with only limited money you find more people play it as if it is real generally.

Al Caponeoni

Indeed. I'm yet to enter a tourney, and if I do, I will do so on Pac Poker, but can't wait to see everyone later tonight on Partay for the TAO Table.
