Would the telepath have to focus to maintain control? If not it is way overpowered.

I think this is a good idea for a unit. I always enjoyed Charmers in RPG's. And it is a balanced idea. Though im guessing there may be limitations like humanoid only..ect.

wow man, that is uncanny. I just want to say that i didn't read your post before making mine, but our telepath's are ridiculously similar.
