Gold Accounts

Is it just me or does anyone else think that the whole Gold Account dealy is getting out of hand. With the new system in place, all the people who got Gold memberships already get shafted cuz they payed the same amount as the new people will pay but they got one less unit, for the simple reason that they upgraded before this new system was put in place. 2nd of all everyone else gets shafted cuz now certain people can have 2 assassins 2 scouts and a frost golem. 2assassins + 2 scouts + paralyzing golem w/ 60 hp = DEATH.

That was a 1 time deal and in TAO account are not static thet graw and change as time goes on.

The Ice Golem really isn't very special. Assassins are weak too.
They might have a slight advantage, but nothing to over the top.

Although I dont think the game is too unbalanced right now... It will be as more people gane unit drops and more units are added. Thats why a unit point system really needs to be put in place, its the only way you can offer a balance between those who have extra units and those who dont. (see post "Point system")

The game is not equal, you are suppost to want to build your accounts up.

Just like in everyquest and UO you gain things that make beating other players easier.

Instead of sowrds and equipment we gibve out units or you earn units.

What if a person is playing for 4 months and never gets a single new unit?

Then they should upgrade to Gold.

You guys to understand that without Gold Accounts this game will go offline. The ONLY money coming in to pay for these servers is from Gold Accounts.

Now other options include putting 2 popups per page and other junk we'd rather not do.

Also keep in mind you don't see games like this around for a reason, first they are next to impossible to make in flash, and second the servers that run them are at least 10 times more expensive then normal windows/unix servers.

10 times! GO check out any hosting price page and add a 0 behind their most expensive plans... then times that by 2 and add another webserver and thats what we are paying right now.

I'm not bitching about it, I'm just stating facts, and the number say that Gold Accounts are keeping us afloat.

seriously, if you want to complain about unit imbalances though, go gold yourself. If you can'tt pay it, pray for the unit drops... that's really all there is... it's a great game, it's worth a day's lunch money.

In my opinion that would be the wrong way to go with the game. The game is more centered around a RTS then an RPG. I believe you should be implementing more maps, and balancing the units not this "building" accounts up. It should deal on a pure stratergist point not on who plays the most.

You stated that earlier and I agree with taking the game down that path. Not this "whoever has played more earns better things", because to me that seems to be straying from the games strength. Anyway thats just my opinion.

Well it's a combo of both.

Even the new units are balanced, just ne wunits are fun to play and open new team combinations up to that user.

A Gold Account with a stacked team can still lose to the default free account team. So the skill is still there we just expand the different combos open to people that support the games development.

iono, that two-witch implementation i faced the other day was pretty annoying... but it was a good implementation of the strengths of the units availiable, i'll admit
