The Revelation Turtle League
The Revelation Turtle League
I would like to draw your attention to rule 4.17, a new addition which I have had to add to prevent people just surrendering once they lose one unit, which doesn't make for a fun game. The first 2 games (Clacker vs. Bottle and Thargor vs. Bottle) do not get included, since the rule was brought in after they were played. Thanks go to Snarr for the template for these rules. And yes, I was just about to edit it, I don't need a mod doing it thank you so very much ![]() 1. Aims 2. Organisation 3. Matches 4. Scoring 5. End of round procedures 6. Violations 7. Etiquette 1. Aims 1.1 The primary aim of the Revelation Turtle League is to provide a testing ground for a player’s skill in-game, by removing most benefits from initial position and letting players start on an even footing. 1.2 It is designed to run alongside the Grand League, as an alternative for those bored of the rushing that goes on nowadays. 2. Organisation 2.1 There will only be 1 league, with all 20 players in it. 2.2 The league will have rounds which will last 2 months. 2.3 New players may join only if someone else quits or is inactive during the League, or at the start of the next league. To join the waiting list for joining, PM your formations you plan to use to Bottle. 3. Matches 3.1 Every player plays each person in his group twice, giving a grand total of 38 games in 2 months. 3.2 All games must be completed in the allowed time period. 3.3 Players who complete less then 5 matches before 2 weeks are up will be disqualified for inactivity unless they have an acceptable reason. Similarly, you must complete at least 12 matches by the end of the first month. 3.4 If you are not active enough you will be removed from the league and all results for that person will be removed too. A substitute will be brought in. People who have already played will have to play the substitute again. This is for three reasons; it's not a fair reflection on the player who adopts an (often bad) set of results, it's not fair on the people who played the first player if he's stronger than the sub, and it's not fair on the people yet to play if the sub is stronger than the original player. 3.5 Games results are to be reported by the winner only to Bottle as soon as possible, to allow time to process them. Reports will be done by PM to Bottle and in the following format. Bottle (home) vs. Wayfaerer Winner: Bottle by 5 units (7 units to 2) The subject of the PM must be either Result, or Query. Query PMs occur when you are not satisfied that the opponent’s formation is a turtle, and send a screenshot of it. If the formation is on the list approved of by Bottle, the result will stand; if not, the person who fielded the illegal formation will forfeit the match and receive a 10 UD fine. The “winner” gains a 3 UD victory. For UD rules see section 4.9-4.18. 3.6 Reports are based on a trust system, violation of this trust system are described in section 6. 3.7 Matches are to be played on the Revelation server. 3.8 The allowed units are basic gold, no drop, 10 units may be used including any of the following: 1 Lightning ward 1 Barrier Ward 1 Dark Magic Witch 1 Dragon Speaker Mage 1 Beast Rider 1 Dragon (counts as 2 units) 1 Mud Golem 1 Frost Golem 1 Stone Golem 1 Furgon 1 Cleric 1 Assassin 1 Enchantress 2 Pyromancers 2 Scouts 3 Knights 1 Poison Wisp 1 Golem Ambusher 3.9 If a game has started and one of the players has unit drop in his formation, then the victory will be automatically awarded to the other player as if the formation was queried with the same penalties. 3.10 A player is to play his opponent twice, in one of which games (the home game) he will get first turn, and in the other (the away game) he will go second. This will be determined by alphabetical order, the player lower in the alphabet will play at home on the first game. For example; Bottle will get the first home game against Wayfaerer. 3.11 The responsibility to coordinate matches falls on the player; this can be done any way they choose to. The recommended way would be private messages via the forums. Do not make new threads in the forums! 4. Scoring 4.1 3 points awarded for a victory. 4.2 0 points awarded for a loss 4.3 1 points awarded for a draw. 4.4 A bonus of 1 point will be added for every +20 UD you have. There is no penalty for having a negative UD. See sections 4.9-4.16. 4.5 In case of disconnection, the remaining player takes a screenshot of the position and sends it to Bottle as normal, with a summary of the HP situation. 4.6 Bottle will then decide if the remaining player was going to win. If so, the victory will be awarded; if not, the match will be replayed. 4.7 Bottle will also contact the d/ced player to confirm that the HP summary is accurate. If you are found to be deliberately lying about HP in a screenshot, you will be subject to disciplinary action as described in section 6. 4.8 These rules are to ensure people do not cheat by trying to get out of a losing position by claiming d/c. 4.9 Unit Difference (UD) rules will be in effect throughout the league. 4.10 A big win will be more rewarded than a small win (i.e. a victory by 8 units is better than a victory by 5 units). At the end of the battle, the number of mobile units difference between the players is noted. This is then posted with the result. 4.11 An example of this is: Bottle is playing Wayfaerer and is winning. Wayfaerer realises he's lost and surrenders when he has only his knight, stoney, LW and frozen knight (2 mobile units) left to Bottle's stoney, cleric, frostie, dragon, scout, furgon. (7 mobile units, dragon counts as 2) 4.12 This will give Bottle +5 to his Unit Difference and Wayfaerer -5 to his. 4.13 If the match is drawn, the number of units left when the *Draw game!* sign come up will be used for UD purposes. If a player knows he's going to lose but still has more units left than his opponent (i.e. stoney, furgon and cleric vs. scout) then the UD is 0 for both players, as if both players had 1 unit left. 4.14 If a player gets a flawless win, they score a bonus 5 UD as well as the normal 10, making the total for a flawless +15 UD. The loser gets -12 to his UD. 4.15 If a player knows he's going to lose, he might as well surrender while he has units left, to prevent his UD being decreased. 4.16 This makes it better for players to surrender early when they're sure they're going to lose, making games shorter and also rewarding big wins. 4.17 NEW RULE: You cannot surrender if you have 4 or more mobile units remaining. 4.18 If a player surrenders when their opponent has 10 units on the field (regardless of mobile or not) it counts as a flawless win, even if they still have 3 units left. 5. End of round procedures 5.1 At the end of the round all matches must be completed. 5.2 Incomplete matches will result no points awarded to either parties, unless Bottle decides otherwise (e.g. If a player has consistently refused to play an opponent). 5.3 When all scores are added up, the top will win the league. If two or more players are level, UD will decide who comes out on top. The player with the more positive overall UD will win. 5.4 The winner of the league will hopefully be awarded some minor prize. This is not designed to be a majorly competitive league, but rather a bit of fun. Prizes are not going to be big to try and prevent a win-at-all-costs attitude. 6. Violations 6.1 Violation of the rules will result in sanctions which may be expressed as reduced points or even exclusion from the league, depending on the severity of the violation. 6.2 The decision will be taken by Bottle, except in cases when the incident involves Bottle himself, in which case theburning will take the decision. 7. Etiquette 7.1 The league is not supposed to be any more competitive than a normal match. While no actual restrictions are placed on most of the following, it is recommended you follow them all. 7.2 If a player misclicks and the move is undoable, then both players should try to undo it if the misclicking player makes his opponent aware of it before the next move is taken. If damage is dealt this is often not possible. In this case, try and make some agreement (e.g. rematch). 7.3 If you make an honest mistake with your formation and forget to change to one that you have submitted and that has been accepted, then offer to rematch. Do not attempt to gain advantage out of this by finding out a player’s formation beforehand. If this happens to you, report it to Bottle and disciplinary action may be taken against the offending player. 7.4 In the event of wild blocking for one player or the other, if BOTH players agree the match can be replayed. Merit may be given to a player who surrenders a beneficial position gained through lucky blocking by offering a rematch. 7.5 The default arrangement for matches is random sides, but if BOTH players agree beforehand, same-side and opposite-side matches can be arranged. Attempting to con an opponent into getting same-side or opposite-side by telling someone to deploy on one side and then setting up on the other side to the one you said you would, is likely to result in disciplinary action if a valid screenshot of the side arrangements can be provided.

League Results will appear here. Home players name comes first.
PLEASE REMEMBER THAT YOU CANNOT SURRENDER IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 3 MOBILE UNITS LEFT. IF YOU HAVE 4 LEFT AND YOU SURRENDER, YOU WILL BE COUNTED AS HAVING 3 LEFT FOR UD PURPOSES. IT IS IN YOUR INTEREST TO ATTEMPT TO TAKE A FEW MORE PIECES IF YOU HAVE MORE THAN 3 UNITS LEFT, UNLESS YOU DON'T HAVE TIME OR DON'T THINK YOU CAN. IF YOUR OPPONENT HAS 10 UNITS LEFT WHEN YOU SURRENDER YOU WILL LOSE 12 UD AND YOUR OPPONENT WILL GAIN 15 UD. BEAR THIS IN MIND BEFORE SURRENDERING. Those took me well over 3 hours to write... Just a suggestion cause you seem to be full, you could use the rules we made (well I made) for turtle matches for the Rev vs. Leg tourney if you can find the thread. The more clear cut and less given to discretion they are the better.

No reason a stoned DSM shouldn't be aloud in a turtle though

It's too late, I've already finalised the rules and I'm not changing them now.
Here's the formations I'll be using. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The second one is open to interpretation as to whether or not it's a legal turtle. It's point is not to kill the cleric, although it could be said to be in a position where it gains a large initial advantage by being able to break stone focus. As such, I will only use it if my opponents agree that it's a fair turtle. I doubt many will.

OK, minor problem. Hotmail won't let me log on to the email address I made for the league (says my password is incorrect, which I know it isn't, and won't let me change it either). So results will now have to be PMed to me. Don't worry, I'll try and clear my PM box every day, but if it's full, just bear with me and PM me again the following day. There's currently room for 50 messages, so we should be OK for now
