Barrier Focus
Do you all realize you can but someone under a barrier while they are focusing?
I didnt until a few games ago... Its a great combination, especially for use with a frost golem. I was able to keep someones lighting ward paralyzed (sp?) for most of the game.

Finally!
I've always moved a unit in as bait for a Lighting Ward in order to get my enchantress in paralyze position, but now since I know I can paralyze Wards things get a little easier.
I don't know why most people don't use enchantresses. I find that most people are unprepared for them because of this and this causes them to lose late game when my enchantress takes two of their knights out of commission and either wins the game or leaves it to a struggling assassin or cleric in the back. I think most people are hesitant to use enchantresses because they are a liablilty early game because of their short and awkwardly shaped spell radius. Plus its easy for a spare scout or assassin to knock them out of focus (especially scouts). Most people choose the more direct winners like a second dark witch or a lightning ward, but I've won more battles then not using an enchantress, late game, even when I'm outnumbered. Personally, I think wards are a waste of time. They are an automatic loss late game as units are too spread out for the ward to affect anything. Also, I find it easy to adapt to ward strategies as enemy units usually cluster around their "protective" ward, thereby limiting their flexiblity, allowing me to outflank them or do plenty of damage with a sacrificial witch or pyro. Finally, Lightning Wards take four turns to recharge, the second longest in the game, equal only to a moving, healing Cleric. Despite their huge damage, it is simply not worth the wait for such an inflexible unit. And barrier wards can be hit while protecting someone, thereby taking down the barrier. But I prefer a more flexible style of play anyways. And now I have a use for barrier wards...to protect my enchantress or one of my sacrificial witches. Thanks if you managed to get through all this.

Ahh, yes. I have seen an snchantress completely win a game by mesmarizing the last few opponents. Its sucked,

personally, i agree with that to a point. i find that a lightning ward can be a great tool, but you need to also not be afraid to leave it. sometimes you need to go into enemy lines, and all that.
but at the same time, you can use that lightning ward as an advantage. people seem to not want to come near it, and that makes it so that i have room to work. |

The thing is though that the barrier is flexible, as is the paralysis, particularly with the fg... the fg can sit pretty (making a good impression of a rock) and act like a wall. If, however, something new comes in as a threat, the paralysis can shift.
However, i do agree with aezeal, it IS a bit of a liability... so far though, i've liked it.

Wow
I didn't know that combo was possible. I though you unfocused when a barrier was put on you. That's a really good strategy to try. Thanks.

u realize chanty can paralyze up to 12 things... and even if it is 2 units to take out one... if that one is a knight or scout, it's worth it. plus, they'll have to deal with chanty eventually to win, and THAT will require either a spare scout or a few spellcasters... |
