Scout Trickshot Compendium!
This is a "library" of trick shots you can do with your scout that can get past supposedly "defensive" formations.
If you have a contribution, please give it the next number and a unique name. Let's assume that your target is up and to the right. This is the reference position, which can just be rotated to get the other four positions. It turns out that there are only NINE unique types of shots. They were discovered by Dunbar. In these diagrams S stands for Scout, T for Target, O for an empty square and X for an occupied square: Code:
O T O X O T O O O X O T O O O O O X O T X O X O X O O O O T S O S O S O S O S O O O T O O O O O T O X O O X O O O T O O O O X O O X O S O O S O O S O O O O O T O O X O O X O O S O O O 1. The Cross Shot Code:
O T X X S O Code:
O Z O T O X O O O O S O Code:
O Z O T X X O O S O Code:
O T O O X X X X O O S O |

Number 4 and number 1 have saved my life and pissed off many opponents. hehehe. I LOVE the scouts. But you kinda butchered what he originally said. Check what you have written above it. It should be different. X's meant where it would be blocked, and anyone on an 'O' would not block...check it over.

You know, since I went through the trouble of doing the actual testing, you could at least give me credit for it
![]() Edit: nevermind, I re-read your post and you did credit me, I just can't read, lol. Thanks for putting all the info into one easy-to-reference post. Last edited by Dunbar; 12-13-2003 at 02:00 AM. |

Quick question, in the first part the X's stand for a position that will block the shot, while the O's stand for a position that willnot block the shot, but in the 2cd part the X's are an occupied square, while the O's are an unoccupied square?

Sorry for the mixup.
In the reference table, the X's stand for spots at which a unit will block your shot from S to T. In the library itself, T "looks" protected, but despite units standing at X's, you can still hit it. |

I think you should put in Ks (to represent knights, or any other unit) instead of Xs in the second section to avoid confusion.
You should also add the diagram below, just for completeness. Code:
F
F F F
F F F F F
F F F F F F F
S S F F F F F S S
S S S S F F F S S S S
S S S S S S K S S S S S S
S S S S R R R S S S S
S S R R R R R S S
R R R R R R R
R R R R R
R R R

Re: confused---as always
Quote:
The only really tricky ones are #2 and #3 above. And those are only tricky because you target and fire at the square behind the unit you want to hit, rather than target that unit directly (since if you did that the unit directly in front of them would block the shot). |

Scouts and pyros my two favorite characters. Trick shots just make it soo much more fun, especially when it pisses your enemy off
