About a month ago, before the last reset, I played a game against devast8, a fellow gray member. It was a very close game, and I was vastly less experienced than he, so it seemed to be hurting his pride. Once he saw he might lose, he decided to retreat, enahncing his already defensive (and cowardly) strategy. Now at the time I was mad, but didn't give up. I had one pyro at full health remaining and he had a LW and a knight, one hit away from death and his defeat. He obviously didn't want to attack, so I set my pyro up at the top of his LW range and began hitting it, slowly but surely killing it. I had remained stationary for one turn to ensure that my lack of movement while recovering would not induce a draw. Devast8 began pleading for me to surrender, not a draw, a full suurrender. He promised me he could get me into his clan, KWOzmaj. I was in a good mood apparently, because I let time run out as I made him sweat it. He thanked me and followed through on his promise by recommmending me to ozmaj85. I battled oz, and lost of course, but was deemed fit for the clan. Since then I have become one of the best grays on Banff (still having trouble with IQ-congrats to him) and have been transplated into Vengeance in Shadow. I encountered devast8 in the lobby on Banff today, and he asked me for a game. I agreed, hoping for a good game and a nice chat with my old clan member. Devast8 has always been nice to me, especially when I was starting out in the clan, and we started talking about stuff. He said he was planning on joining KOTR when I asked about his absence from VIS. The game was close, but even he admitted that luck was on his side. I couldn't block most of his hits, but he got several crucial blocks that kept his players alive. Well, I was up on players, and he was huddling behind his LW as in our previous game. I didn't feel like sitting around, so I attacked. I was successful at first, finishing off his scout and both of his witches, but his luck returned. He continued his lucky streak, but still wouldn't move out from behind his LW and BW. I saw defeat coming, but kept trying. He must have landed at least 10 side hits on my three knights, and killed both of my clerics in the process. I couldn't hit him to save my life, but he still kept running away, even when he had the upper hand. Is he scared to actually fight someone outside of LW range? I politely asked him for a draw, offering as evidence my good play and he acknowledged his outstanding luck. I checked the ratings and told him that a draw would drop me two points and that he would pick up two. He did not say anything, but continued to play. I had two knights left, which he quickly finished off since he couldn't seem to miss. I still couldn't land a hit, and was becoming frustrated. He placed a barrier on one of his attacking knights, a sure sign of this coward. I had no chance of winning, but he wouldn't concede one or two hits. With my last knight at 16 hp, I was at his mercy, and passed my turn, expecting him to give me the draw after his victory was sure. He had seemed sympathetic to my luck and I was sure my old friend would pass, especially since even a draw would give him 2 points. He stepped up with his knight and laid the final blow to my knight (still no block for me). I had already begun typing my thanks and congratulations when I was greeted with the sound of defeat.
I hope that devast8 is proud of his win, and I hope that any members of KOTR who are reading this understand what kind of a player wants to be in your clan. After I graciously surrendered to him to preserve his rating before, was a draw too much to ask? As I told him after his joke of "gg", thanks a lot. |

I played devast8 too, it was quite a good game, but I beat him convincingly. He left the arena before me, I checked my stats, then left and logged back on again. To meet the message, "Wow- you beat Bottle? He's really good." I sat back with my mouth open for a few moments, then thought for a second before unleashing one of my spectularly witty and sarcastic comments. Despite the fact that no-one believed him, he kept saying "yeah, whatever you want to believe", and "face it, you lost to a better player." This, in my view, is a very nasty thing to do. I had won the battle fairly, and not without having to overcome his good luck, and had said nothing to offend him. What is wrong with this guy? He was only trying to ruin my reputation, which I find a little petty after losing just one battle.
I played him again recently and kicked his a*** again...... this time, I made sure someone had checked our stats beforehand...... he didn't claim that he had won that time.....

While I see your point, KBHoleN1, one thing that I saw throughout your post was your accusation of "cowardice". This game is not "Bravery Arena Online", it is "Tactics Arena Online". And the tactic of retreating, of staying back and letting the opponent come to you, of keeping your units protected by your Lightning Ward, etc., is quite strong. It is not due to "cowardice" that someone uses Barrier Wards, it is due to tactics.
After all, protecting your units is key for victory. An all-out offensive is rarely the best tactic.

Ok, first of all, the first match we played would have ended in a draw anywaym KBhole, and the second match was luck, but I take anything I can to win.
I have no freaking idea what Kain is talking about, I never played him in my life, he just brags about nothing, and Bottle; I played you ONCE, and what I said was obviously a lie, I admitted it. I can't believe this topic, it is a load of crap. Some of it is lies, and some is truth. Kain plain has a bad attitude. Bottle, I don't know what his deal is aside from we're rivals, and KBHole, this topic was unnessisary. It is totally embarrasing to me, and I'm lucky I found it; I'm extremely disappointed. |
